Larry Trader, a former defenseman for the Detroit Red Wings, sadly passed away at 61.
Larry Trader was drafted 86th overall in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. He was known for his strong start with the Red Wings in 1982. Although he played 15 NHL games as a 19-year-old, he spent much of his career in the AHL, where he excelled offensively, even helping Adirondack win the Calder Cup in 1986.
Despite brief NHL stints with the Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues, and Montreal Canadiens, Trader is remembered for his skill, particularly in the AHL, and for representing Canada internationally, winning a bronze medal at the 1983 World Junior Championship alongside Steve Yzerman.
His legacy will live on through his contributions to the sport, his dedication, and the memories of those who followed his career.
