While he's not the only Detroit Red Wings player struggling to put up points, forward Patrick Kane knows what he and his teammates must do in order to gain ground in both the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference.

Having dropped six of their last seven games, the Detroit Red Wings are back on home ice tonight against the divisional foe Toronto Maple Leafs (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).

Detroit's failure to generate points in the standings have resulted in them being next-to-last in the Eastern Conference, a position that not many people expected them to be in after coming so close to a postseason spot last year.

Patrick Kane, who has struggled offensively in his first full year with the Red Wings, knows that he and his teammates must take advantage of the home-friendly schedule immediately in front of them.

It's a good stretch for us to hopefully get some momentum. Use the building and the energy to our advantage and try to get something going here.

The Leafs currently lead the Atlantic Division in points and aren't short on star talent, something Kane knows they must watch out for.

They have some really special players over there, four or five of them. Seems like they're playing a more disciplined game this year too, so it'll be a tough challenge.

The Red Wings play four of their next five games in front of the home faithful at Little Caesars Arena, who continue to pack the stands despite the on-ice struggles.

Patrick Kane cited the atmosphere at Little Caesars Arena as a major factor in his decision to re-sign with the Red Wings

While the future of Patrick Kane with the Red Wings appeared bleak at best following the end of last year, he and GM Steve Yzerman eventually came to an agreement on a 1-year contract.

Kane stated that the incredible atmosphere at Little Caesars Arena played a major role in his decision to return to the Red Wings, despite having played so many years for their former divisional foe Chicago Blackhawks.

However, Kane will have to elevate his game if he wants to hear the roars of the crowd again.
