As the Detroit Red Wings approach the start of their training camp on September 19, several crucial questions remain unanswered, making this an intriguing time for the team's management and fans alike.

1. Will the Red Wings Sign Their RFAs Before Training Camp?
The biggest question hovering over the Detroit Red Wings is whether they can sign their restricted free agents, Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond, before the start of camp. Both players are essential to the team's success, and any delay in getting them under contract could create unnecessary tension.
The situation is further complicated by forward Jonatan Berggren, an unsigned RFA. The longer these negotiations drag on, the more concerning it becomes, as history has shown that prolonged contract disputes can affect players' performances once the season begins.
2. How Will the Red Wings Manage Their Goaltending Rotation?
The goaltending situation is another area of concern for the Detroit Red Wings. With Cam Talbot, Alex Lyon, Ville Husso, and prospects like Sebastian Cossa and Jack Campbell in the mix, figuring out how to allocate starts in training camp and preseason games will be a logistical challenge.
The Detroit Red Wings need to balance getting their veterans in game shape while also evaluating their younger goalies, particularly Sebastian Cossa, who is seen as the future of the team's netminding. Last preseason saw a complex rotation of six goaltenders, and with even more goalies vying for time this year, the coaching staff will have their hands full.
3. Will Detroit Sign Anyone to PTOs?
Finally, there's the question of whether the Detroit Red Wings will bring in any players on professional tryout agreements (PTOs). While the roster is largely set, and a strong group of prospects is ready to compete for remaining spots, general manager Steve Yzerman has shown a willingness to add depth through PTOs in the past. Veterans like Max Pacioretty, James Van Riemsdyk, or Tyler Johnson could provide experience.
At the same time, a reclamation project like Filip Zadina might be considered, though a reunion seems unlikely given the circumstances surrounding his contract termination. However, given Detroit's current depth, signing players on PTOs may not be necessary, but it's an option that remains on the table.
As the countdown to training camp continues, these questions will be at the forefront of discussions surrounding the Detroit Red Wings. The answers are likely to shape the team's outlook for the upcoming season.
