The Red Wings have one final game before the NHL takes a break for the 4 Nations Faceoff, and the status of injured forward J.T. Compher was addressed by head coach Todd McLellan following today's practice.

One of the two hottest teams in the National Hockey League, the Detroit Red Wings will put their 7-game winning streak to the test tomorrow afternoon when they host the divisional foe Tampa Bay Lightning (1:00 PM, ABC, ESPN+, 97.1 The Ticket).

The Red Wings will be looking for their first 8-game winning streak since their most recent Stanley Cup-winning year of 2008, which was also ironically the last year behind the bench as an assistant coach under Mike Babcock for Todd McLellan before he left the organization for the San Jose Sharks that respective summer.

The Red Wings have managed to put together their second 7-game win streak in a 20 game span for the 1st time in franchise history, and have done so while shorthanded.

Forward J.T. Compher hasn't played since the last time the Red Wings played the Lightning on January 27, a 3-1 win at Little Caesars Arena that also saw him take a high hit from Tampa's Emil Lilleberg, who was subsequently suspended.

According to coach Todd McLellan, he doesn't force any reason why Compher wouldn't take the ice tomorrow.

He looks good. Again, I don't know if he came off of Injured Reserve or not, but he looks good. I talked to him this morning and he feels good, so I don't see any reason why he doesn't play.

Compher's production in his 2nd year with the Red Wings has gone down, with only 21 points (6G, 15A) in 48 games.

The NHL will break for the 4 Nations Faceoff

A pair of Red Wings players will represent their respective countries in the upcoming 4 Nations Faceoff.

Dylan Larkin will play for the United States, while Lucas Raymond will play for Team Sweden.

Goaltender Cam Talbot was also in the mix to be named to the Team Canada roster, though he was ultimately passed over.
