The Detroit Red Wings are anticipating big things out of forward Nate Danielson; general manager Steve Yzerman selected him with the ninth overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
He's showing all the signs of being an impactful player for the Red Wings in the future, and currently suits up for the Grand Rapids Griffins as he further builds his skillset in anticipation of his eventual leap to the NHL.
He scored the shootout winner for the Griffins on Sunday against the Colorado Eagles, weaving back and forth as he approached the net before firing a wrist shot past the helpless Eagles goaltender, giving Grand Rapids the victory.
Meanwhile, fresh off his 1st NHL victory a week ago, goaltender Sebastian Cossa helped backstop the Griffins to another win; they now have a perfect 3-0 record when their games require a shootout to decide a winner.
When he was taken in the '23 Draft by the Red Wings, Assistant Director of Player Development Dan Cleary pointed toward a bright future that he and Detroit believes Danielson has.
Danielson has played in 25 games this year for the Griffins, and has 16 points (3G, 19A) so far. He's also previously played for the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Portland Winter Hawks of the WHL.
Don't expect it to be very long before both Danielson and Cossa are regulars in the Red Wings lineup.
