As the NHL off-season approaches, one of the big events that creates a lot of buzz around the league is the NHL draft, especially this year as it will be hosted in the world renowned Las Vegas Sphere.

It's no secret that the Detroit Red Wings had a really disappointing end of the season, as they lost their last wild card spot in the Eastern Conference to the Washington Capitals. When analyzing what went wrong for the Detroit Red Wings down the stretch, some of their major issues can be addressed by drafting a prospect to help bolster the team in major areas of concern. So what should general manager Steve Yzerman do in this year's draft?
If Detroit stays put, one of the most common mock picks at 15th overall is Michael Brandsegg-Nygård of Mora IK in the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan. Brandsegg-Nygard would be a very safe pick at 15th overall. However, if Detroit does stay put, with a decent amount of organizational depth at the forward position, it could look for a high-risk high-reward prospect at 15th overall such as Cole Eiserman or Michael Hage.

Brandsegg-Nygård is a highly skilled Norwegian forward with lots of offensive potential. It is highly likely that Patrick Kane and David Perron could be moving on to different homes this off-season, therefore, Yzerman will need to find a suitable replacement in their stead. Could Brandsegg-Nygård be the answer to help get this offense going?
