As if the Detroit Red Wings winning their 7th-straight game (most since 2012) wasn't enough, they also set a franchise mark not seen since 2016.

Dancing days are back in Hockeytown, as the Detroit Red Wings continue their red-hot stretch of play under new coach Todd McLellan.

Their new head coach, who helped them win the Stanley Cup as an assistant in 2008 and replaced the terminated Derek Lalonde on December 26, has completely turned their year around after they were essentially left for dead at the Christmas break.

During that time, they were tied with the Buffalo Sabres for the last spot in the Eastern Conference.

But since then, the Red Wings have rattled off 7-straight victories, their most since January of 2012. However, that's not the only franchise mark they equaled during today's win over the Seattle Kraken at Little Caesars Arena.

The Red Wings have now scored a power play goal in each of their last 8 games, the longest streak since 2016, and are operating at 50% efficiency during this stretch:

Dylan Larkin, who had gone 15 games without a goal during a particularly frustrating stretch in late November and almost all of December, scored his 18th goal and his 6th in the last six games.

Larkin is one of several players who have seen their performances elevated under Todd McLellan, along with Patrick Kane, Marco Kasper, Joe Veleno, and Alex DeBrincat.

It's clear that the coaching switch from Lalonde to McLellan has had a profound effect on Detroit's recent success.

Did the Red Wings do the right thing by retaining assistant coach Alex Tanguay, who runs the power play?
