Once again, the hockey world has been thrust into mourning following the tragic loss of another young athlete, this time as the result of a horrifying automobile accident.

In a trend that's become far too often of late, the hockey world is coming to gather to mourn the tragic loss of a young member of one of our own.

16 year old Aaron Cheadle of Browerville, Minnesota perished when the vehicle he was driving on northbound on Highway 71 ran off the road and struck a tree.

Road conditions were described as snowy and icy at the time of the accident.

He had played for the Prairie Centre North Stars.

The victim - identified Monday as 16-year-old Aaron Michael Benjamin Cheadle of Browerville - was driving a Ford Taurus northbound on Highway 71 around 10 p.m. near Little Sauk Township when the car went off the road and struck a tree near 150th Street, according to the Minnesota State Patrol website.

Cheadle was pronounced dead at Centracare Sauk Centre Hospital.

Tributes and memories began trickling in via social media from those who remembered the late teen:

His brother, Caleb Jacobs, wrote the following touching tribute on his social media account.

"This is for one of the best younger siblings I could've ever asked for. I would've done anything for you,". "You were so competitive and passionate about hockey and always competitive about video games you loved. I hate to admit it, but I'm pretty sure that you were the better hockey player of us 2."

Tragically, Cheadle's passing was the latest in an unfortunate last several days that has seen the loss of multiple young hockey players.
