Former Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart has been blocked from leaving Canada as the investigation into the 2018 World Junior Championship scandal unfolds.

Hart, along with several other players, is facing allegations related to incidents that occurred during the tournament while representing Team Canada.

According to an affidavit, Hart was denied entry into the United States due to a criminal charge. He has since hired an immigration lawyer to assist him, but his plans to move from Alberta to Tennessee to train with a former professional hockey player have been put on hold.

Hart, a second-round pick by the Flyers in 2016, last played in the NHL during the 2022-23 season. There, he posted a record of 12-9-3 with a .906 save percentage and a 2.80 goals-against average. Following the emergence of these allegations, the Flyers placed Hart on a leave of absence.

The affidavit, submitted as part of the ongoing legal process, includes statements from Hart and four other players involved, revealing concerns about their chances of returning to professional hockey. They have applied to skip non-essential court hearings to focus on work or training elsewhere.
