NHL history is made as first female coach is named
The Seattle Kraken recently announced that they will be promoting AHL coach Dan Bylsma to be their new head coach for next season.
Insider Chris Johnston reported that with the hiring of Bylsma he will be bringing in most of his current staff including assistant coach Jessica Campbell.
"New #SeaKraken head coach Dan Bylsma tells reporters in Seattle that Jessica Campbell will be considered for a job on his coaching staff.
There's never been a full-time female assistant coach in the NHL before."
Campbell already broke the barrier in the AHL when she has hired as the Firebirds assistant coach which has paid off as they are currently in the conference finals of the Calder Cup Playoffs.
Bylsma has stated that Campbell was hired because she is a great coach and it has nothing to do with the fact that she is a woman.
