Make it points in four of their last five games for the Detroit Red Wings, who beat the Calgary Flames at Little Caesars Arena last night thanks to Lucas Raymond's overtime power play goal.
For American fans of the Red Wings who celebrate Thanksgiving today (Canadian Thanksgiving was last month), there are things to be thankful for despite uneven results to the year so far.
In the first place, the signing of goaltender Cam Talbot has paid off.
The Red Wings rotated with three goaltenders last season: Alex Lyon, James Reimer, and Ville Husso, the first of whom would eventually emerge as the de facto starter down the stretch for Detroit thanks to multiple injuries to Husso.
Reimer was allowed to depart through free agency, and GM Steve Yzerman acted swiftly by agreeing to terms with Talbot on a two-year contract while future Red Wings goalie Sebastian Cossa continues to season in the AHL.
So far, the addition has mostly been a very good one. Including last night's win, Talbot has now earned six wins wearing the Winged Wheel and has an impressive .923 save percentage.
Secondly, Red Wings fans should be thankful that Lucas Raymond is starting to heat up. His overtime winner against Calgary gives him goals in four straight after having scored only twice through mid-November.
And third, fans should be thankful that Dylan Larkin is on pace to reach a new career high in goals scored. While the rest of his teammates have been inconsistent in their production, Larkin has been anything but inconsistent.
With 12 goals in 22 games, he's pacing to reach 45, which would easily be a new career-best for him.
