After 4-0 loss, Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin calls out his teammates and himself
Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin has experienced more losing than winning during his career, and he was visibly frustrated following tonight's 4-0 defeat.
What should have been a festive atmosphere at Little Caesars Arena instead felt more like everyone getting the droppings that Santa's reindeer leave behind in their stockings.
The St. Louis Blues sent the Detroit Red Wings to their 3rd straight regulation defeat, a 4-0 final in front of a frustrated sellout crowd.
The loss pushed the Red Wings even further back in the Atlantic Division; they're now ahead of only the Buffalo Sabres, who finally broke their woeful 14-game losing streak.
Captain Dylan Larkin, who has experienced far more losing in his career than winning, appeared completely exacerbated in his postgame remarks and not only called out the performance of his struggling Red Wings teammates but also pointed the finger at himself.
I mean, it's hard to make excuses. When you show up to play, you have to show up to play. We don't have enough guys doing that right now, myself included.
We need to be committed to competing, and we're just not doing that. We're very disconnected, the forwards from the D, wingers from center men, it's just all over. There's a lot of disconnect and skating; a lot of hard work, but we're not getting anything accomplished.
I never really think our work ethic is poor, but we have a bunch of guys who work hard. It's just we're working hard and not accomplishing anything.
Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington made 19 saves for his 17th career shutout, while Dylan Holloway register his 1st career hat trick.
