The Red Wings provide the latest information on the status of Michael Rasmussen while announcing tonight's starting goaltender against the Blue Jackets.

It's a good news and bad news situation for the Detroit Red Wings for tonight's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).
The bad news is that forward Michael Rasmussen remains out of the lineup thanks to the dirty blindside hit that he took from Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras in Sunday's 5-4 OT win.
But the good news is that his injury isn't considered serious, and that he remains on a day to day basis.
As far as who gets the nod in the crease, Cam Talbot was in the starter's net during this morning's practice session.

Todd McLellan confirmed that Michael Rasmussen won't play tonight

Following practice, coach Todd McLellan confirmed that Rasmussen won't be playing tonight despite having lightly skated.
He won't play tonight, we'll see how he is for Saturday back in Columbus.

McLellan then delved into the fact that while it's exciting that his team is on the verge of a historic outdoor game, there's still a job to get done.
The fact that both teams, and I can certainly speak for our team but also for Dean (Evason) and his club, that we're both in this situation is pretty exciting for both organizations. The games are very meaningful, back to back set and outdoors adds alot more drama to it.

But on Sunday when we all wake up, the actual hockey part of it and the points, what comes out of it will be the most important. There's a lot of exciting things leading up to it, and the experience that the players will have not only in Columbus but starting tonight is one they'll have memories for a long time.

But Sunday morning it's back to what happened, where did the points go and let's move on and see what we can get done.
