The Detroit Red Wings gathered for a morning skate at Little Caesars Arena, but have been forced into making an emergency roster move after a key player was hurt and will be unavailable for tonight's game.

An emergency roster move has been made by the Red Wings thanks to an untimely injury during the morning skate at Little Caesars Arena.

According to multiple reports, goaltender Alex Lyon was hurt and will be unavailable to back up Cam Talbot in tonight's game against the Calgary Flames (7:30 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).

Thanks to Lyon's injury, goaltender Ville Husso is being called up from the Grand Rapids Griffins and will be in uniform as Talbot's back up vs. Calgary.

Lyon was the key to helping the Red Wings earn two points over the New York Islanders on Monday night, weathering an early storm that saw the Red Wings once again start a game being outshot by a wide margin.

Just treated it as a practice and get better being in those critical moments. As you go throughout the year as a team, you have to be comfortable in those situations.

I just treated it as a learning experience and just tried to stay in the moment and tonight it worked out, it was a fun game.

Husso was given the start in Detroit's first game of the year against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but was pulled in the second period and eventually demoted to the AHL.

He's made one start for the Red Wings since then, a 4-0 loss to the New York Rangers on November 9; his performance was better, making 20 saves.
