Last night's game for the Detroit Red Wings against the division foe Buffalo Sabres was an up-and-down matchup that eventually resulted in a badly-needed pair of points for Detroit.
Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond both scored in the shootout for the Red Wings, who won 6-5 thanks 12 saves from goaltender Sebastian Cossa, appearing from the start of the second period for Detroit after starter Ville Husso was pulled.
And for Cossa, he said it was going to be hard to sleep after how the night ended.
The win snapped a five-game winless skid for the Red Wings, who appeared on their way to a 6th straight loss while trailing 5-3 in the 3rd period.
But the second goal of the night from Andrew Copp followed by Moritz Seider's game-tying goal helped send the game to overtime.
Cossa stopped Buffalo's Tage Thompson and J.J. Peterka in the shootout, only allowing Alex Tuch to beat him; Larkin scored on former Red Wings goaltender James Reimer to end the game and earn the win.
Ville Husso was yanked from the net after the first period, having allowed three goals on seven shots; two of the goals are ones that he'd badly want a second opportunity to stop.
Coach Derek Lalonde made the switch during the intermission, and while Cossa allowed a pair of quick goals thanks mostly to Detroit's continued defensive woes, he helped play a role in handing the Sabres what was ultimately their 7th straight home loss.
