Elliotte Friedman's comments on Cam Fowler potentially being a central figure in the NHL trade market come at an interesting time for the Anaheim Ducks.

Fowler, a key veteran presence, is entering his 15th season and has been a cornerstone on the Ducks' blue line. However, as Anaheim looks to develop its younger talent, there may be a shift in priorities. Fowler's no-trade clause is a hurdle, but his reported willingness to discuss with more teams suggests a potential move could happen during the season.
Given the Detroit Red Wings' history of interest in Fowler, there could be speculation about them being suitors. However, with several young defensemen like Simon Edvinsson and Moritz Seider poised to play significant roles, the Red Wings may focus on allowing their youth to develop rather than acquiring another veteran on the blue line.
On the Red Wings' front, Taro Hirose and Matt Luff remain unrestricted free agents, still searching for teams ahead of the 2024-25 season. Meanwhile, Swedish prospect Michael Brandsegg-Nygard has been making an impression, with some analysts believing he has a shot at cracking the Red Wings' roster this fall.
It's also worth noting the injury to prospect Axel Sandin Pellikka, who is day-to-day after playing just 2:37 in a Champions League game for Skellefteċ. The Red Wings will monitor his health as they monitor his development.
