The Detroit Red Wings are dropping like flies, as goaltender Cam Talbot was hurt during today's 5-4 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks at Little Caesars Arena.
His injury is in addition to the ones that have kept Patrick Kane and Alex Lyon out of the lineup for the last several games.
While Kane is expected to return as soon as Tuesday, Lyon won't be joining the rest of his teammates on their road trip that begins on Tuesday against the division foe Boston Bruins.
But to add even more insult to injury, one of Detroit's highly-regarded prospects currently playing in the AHL also was hurt on the same afternoon.
Grand Rapids Griffins forward Amadeus Lombardi left today's game against the Cleveland Monsters at Van Andel Arena.
The play during which Lombardi was hurt can be seen below:
Griffins head coach Dan Watson didn't have an immediate update on Lombardi's status, but mentioned that he did attempt to return and give it a go before ultimately deciding that he wasn't able to finish the contest.
Lombardi has 15 points (9G, 6A) in 19 games with the Griffins this year.
