Frustrated Detroit Red Wings fans booed their team off the ice after their 4-0 loss to the Blues, and captain Dylan Larkin and coach Derek Lalonde are responding.

The Detroit Red Wings were once again embarrassed on home ice, getting shut out by the visiting St. Louis Blues in a 4-0 defeat that pushed them even further toward the bottom of the Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division.

Dylan Holloway notched his first career hat trick for the Blues, who also got 19 saves from goaltender Jordan Binnington for his 17th career shutout.

For several portions throughout the evening, the sellout crowd at Little Caesars Arena made their frustrations very clear with the Red Wings with a smattering of booing.

But as the last several seconds ticked away in regulation, the fans that hadn't already gotten a head start on the traffic all came together in a loud chorus of booing.

The booing certainly didn't go unnoticed by captain Dylan Larkin, who was as visibly frustrated as he's ever been in his postgame media session.

They're frustrated and we're frustrated, and rightfully so frustrated. When you play at home on a big night like tonight with the holidays coming up, a great crowd, and we didn't give them any reason to cheer and have a good night.

We feel it. They were frustrated as well. It's just a disappointing effort and game for playing at home ice before the holiday.

Coach Derek Lalonde, whose seat is getting warmer and warmer, believes the frustration from fans stems from the Red Wings having played well at times but have failed to show consistency.

It's the frustration, because this group has shown it at times. We're not a perfect team by any means but we've shown to play at a pretty good level. It wasn't enough tonight.
