The Detroit Red Wings will continue to be without a major piece of their top-six this afternoon against the Vancouver Canucks (12:30 PM EST, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).
Patrick Kane will miss his 4th straight game with an upper-body issue, but the good news is that his return to the lineup is believed to hopefully be right around the corner.
Per beat writer Helene St. James, Kane could be available for the Red Wings as soon as Tuesday when they face the divisional foe Boston Bruins on the road:
Head coach Derek Lalonde confirmed that the hope is for Kane to be back in the lineup on Tuesday for their crucial divisional clash.
After signing with the Red Wings last December following offseason hip surgery, Kane produced at nearly a point-per-game pace.
The hope from the Red Wings and Kane himself is that he would equal those numbers or perhaps even improve upon them thanks to a full offseason of training.
Unfortunately, Kane only has 10 points (3G, 7A) in 20 games this year. That statistical output isn't helping Detroit's 25th ranked goals-per-game rate of 2.57.
Here's hoping that upon Kane's re-insertion into the lineup, he'll be able to pick up the pace and get back to his scoring prowess of last year.
