The Detroit Red Wings will host a prospect tournament against the Dallas Stars at Traverse City's Centre ICE Arena this weekend. The games are set for Saturday, September 14th at 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 15th at 2:30 p.m. The roster, released earlier this month, features 24 recent draft picks, free-agent signings, and tryouts. Who should you watch for in these games?

Selected 9th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2023 NHL Draft, Nate Danielson spent last season with the Brandon Wheat Kings, tallying 26 points (12 goals, 14 assists) in 26 games with a +6 rating. He was then traded to the Portland Winterhawks, where he excelled with 41 points (12 goals, 19 assists) in 28 games and a +20 rating. Following the WHL season, he joined the Grand Rapids Griffins, where he played two scoreless playoff games with a -1 rating. Expected to start the season with Grand Rapids, a repeat of his Winterhawks performance could see him joining the Detroit Red Wings for the 2024-25 season.
Undrafted but signed by the Detroit Red Wings, Alexandre Doucet played for the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL last season, notching 41 points (19 goals, 22 assists) in 52 games with a +19 rating. In the playoffs, he scored six points (one goal, five assists) in 14 games, finishing with an even rating. He also appeared in six AHL games with Grand Rapids without recording a point and a -2 rating. Doucet aims to secure a full AHL season and potentially an NHL spot, though he might be more likely to join the Detroit Red Wings in the 2025-26 or 2026-27 seasons.
Drafted 15th overall in the recent draft, Brandsegg-Nygard played for Mora IK last season, earning 18 points (eight goals, ten assists) in 41 games with a +3 rating. He excelled in the qualification round with ten points (four goals, six assists) in 12 games and represented Norway in the World Juniors, scoring five points (three goals, two assists) in five games with a +1 rating. This season, he has continued his strong play with Norway, recording five points (four goals, one assist) in five international games with a +3 rating. Detroit Red Wings fans will be keen to see if he proves to be a draft gem who could contribute soon.
**D - Shai Buium**
Chosen 36th overall in the 2021 NHL Draft, Buium helped lead the University of Denver to a National Championship last season. He recorded 36 points (seven goals, 29 assists) in 43 games with a +33 rating. In the Tournament, he added two assists, including one in the National Championship game. He also played one game for Grand Rapids without registering a point. Standing 6'3" and weighing 220 lbs, Buium is expected to play for Grand Rapids this season but could be called up to the Detroit Red Wings if needed.
Drafted 191st overall by Detroit Red Wings in the 2019 NHL Draft, Gylander played 32 games for Colgate last season, posting a 14-14-4 record with a 2.93 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage, finishing his college career with a 46-46-13 record. He is likely to share the net with Sebastian Cossa in Grand Rapids. With Cossa being the future starting goalie for the Detroit Red Wings, Gylander's performance as a backup will be worth watching, especially with the prospect of Trey Augustine joining the team in the coming seasons.
