Former NHL head coach and Hockey Night in Canada host Don Cherry is blasting Team Canada as being too frugal in the World Junior Championships.

Team Canada isn't exactly impressing in the 2025 World Junior Championships in their mission to have a better showing than last year's 5th place finish.

Their 4-1 loss to the United States (with Red Wings prospect Trey Augustine in goal) was their second loss of the tournament, leading head coach Dave Cameron to call out his players for being undisciplined after their parade to the penalty box.

I can't address it - they know it. They know the penalties are penalties. They have to decide. It's simple as that."

"It's an individual thing, it's a character thing. They have to decide, pretty sure they will. They've been dangling there, and they really got burned tonight. I think lesson learned.

Before Canada was defeated by the United States, former Hockey Night in Canada host Don Cherry blasted Team Canada for being "cheap" and not having hired a full-time coach and general manager during an episode of his Grapevine podcast.

Hockey (Canada) needs a full time coach and a GM, that's for sure, right. I just think Hockey Canada doesn't want to pay. Too cheap. Doesn't want to pay, then see the crowds.

You have Michael Misa, who was on pace to score 140 points in the OHL and has 30 goals and 30 games. I mean, he didn't even get invited to camp. He didn't even get invited to camp. Wasn't even invited. I would say they need a full-time coach and GM, no doubt about it. And you know what? Has to have total control.
