Detroit Red Wings goaltender Alex Lyon was hurt during the 1st period of Tuesday night's overtime win over the Senators, but the latest update is optimistic.

The Detroit Red Wings lost goaltender Alex Lyon to injury on Tuesday night, as he left their 3-2 overtime win over the Ottawa Senators after the 1st period. He was swiftly ruled out of the game.

He had been a perfect 10-for-10 in the shots against by the Senators before being replaced in goal by Cam Talbot.

And while he was not on the ice this morning for practice, head coach Todd McLellan had an optimistic update on Lyon's health.

Day to day. He's day to day right now, he could get on the ice as early as tomorrow and we'll see what happens.

As far as the injury to Jeff Petry is concerned, McLellan said that he's not likely to play during the week but that the team would have a better update on his condition starting next week.

(Petry) went on IR, never a good sign. He's likely not going to play this week, and we'll see where he's at for the beginning of next week.

Lyon has mostly performed well for the Red Wings this year, going 8-5 with a 2.71 GAA and .902 SV%.

Yesterday, the Red Wings re-called goaltender Ville Husso from the Grand Rapids Griffins and he'll likely back up Cam Talbot for tomorrow's game against the Chicago Blackhawks at Little Caesars Arena (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).

Talbot will likely get the start against the Blackhawks; he previously was in goal for Detroit's 4-1 win at United Center in early November.
