The Detroit Red Wings lost defenseman Jeff Petry during last week's 5-4 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets, and the latest update on his condition is out.

Last week, the Detroit Red Wings lost defenseman Jeff Petry to injury; he was hurt against the Columbus Blue Jackets as part of Detroit's 5-4 victory.

He appeared to get tied up with Blue Jackets' Kirill Marchenko, who was about to fire a shot attempt at Cam Talbot. Petry fell to the ice and was assisted by Simon Edvinsson as he made his way back to the bench hunched over in pain.

He's not played since, and the Red Wings re-called defenseman William Lagesson from the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Today, the Red Wings confirmed that Petry has been placed on Injured Reserve retroactive to their January 3 matchup against the Blue Jackets.

Petry has 6 points (1G, 5A) with a -7 rating in 34 games so far this year.
