Michael Brandsegg-Nygard receives heaps of praise from Red Wings brass
Michael Brandsegg-Nygard was taken by the Detroit Red Wings with the 15th pick in the NHL Entry Draft and there is no doubt the right-winger has a ton of potential.
According to NHL.com, Brandsegg-Nygard will be playing this season with Skelleftea in the Swedish Hockey League. He will do so alongside another Swedish Detroit Red Wings draft pick, Axel Sandin-Pellikka. It's a huge opportunity for him to develop. Although Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman is already confident that Brandsegg-Nygard has a bright future.
"I think he plays a pretty responsible game for a young guy,» Yzerman said. «When we all played junior, we worried about scoring. We didn't check. He's just got a really well-rounded game to him. I just think he's a guy who could play in all situations. He can play either wing, a lot of different spots on the power play.»
The Red Wings director of player development, Dan Cleary, is also impressed by the young draft pick. Needless to say, Red Wings' brass is happy with the future they've cultivated.
«I like his game,» Cleary said. «Watching him play, you can see he's strong protecting the puck, he can shoot it very well.»
