The Detroit Red Wings have won two straight games under new head Coach Todd McLellan, and Moriz Seider is explaining what's different about their play.

The Detroit Red Wings have won two consecutive games under head Coach Todd McLellan, who was hired one week ago to replace the terminated Derek Lalonde; assistant coach Bob Boughner was also terminated.

While the Red Wings dropped their initial game against the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2 in McLellan's 1st game behind the bench, they've since gotten in full practice sessions with their new coach and earned wins over the Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins.

Defenseman Moritz Seider is revealing how things have changed under McLellan, noting that not only are they paying with more intensity but that they're more direct and not overthinking things as much.

I just think we play a lot faster. We're not going to be perfect but we're playing with more intensity and tweaked the penalty kill a little bit, that was something that was implemented right from the start, and it's working out pretty well.

We're still learning but it's the start we were looking for. We're getting used to each other and there's good energy on the ice.

Sometimes, we overthink the game a little bit and try to just make it too perfect and cute. He's (McLellan) a big believer in what is out there, read and react. (We) still have the game plan going into the game and trying to match that, (but playing) within ourselves and making better plays.

The Red Wings will play on the road for the 1st time under McLellan, with games against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Winnipeg Jets.
