The Red Wings are missing Patrick Kane and J.T. Compher from their lineup and need them back soon despite having won 4-consecutive games.

The Detroit Red Wings put their 4-game winning streak to the test tonight when they play the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome (10:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, Sportsnet, 97.1 The Ticket).

Cam Talbot has been named tonight's starter by coach Todd McLellan, who has now guided the Red Wings to a 12-4-1 record since returning to the organization as head coach to replace the fired Derek Lalonde on December 26.

After today's practice, McLellan divulged the latest update on Kane's health, and indicated that there's a chance that he'll be back in the Red Wings lineup when they continue their road trip against the Vancouver Canucks tomorrow night.

Kaner is getting close, yes. There's a chance he'll be in the lineup tomorrow, but this skate's important for his progress.

As far as the health of J.T. Compher, McLellan said that he's still a ways out from returning.

He's likely a little further down the road from what I've been told, but I'm just worried about the guys who can play.

Kane, who the Red Wings inked to a 1-year contract during the summer to return to Detroit, was off to a slow start until the coaching change was made.

Since then, his offensive production has taken off, and he was included in the top-3 players in total points scored from late December until he went down with his upper-body injury sustained late last month against the Dallas Stars.

Kane has 30 points (11G, 19A) in 42 games played so far this year. Meanwhile, Compher's production has dropped considerably with only 21 points (6G, 15A) in 48 games.
