The Detroit Red Wings lost for the 1st time since December 27, 6-3 to the San Jose Sharks; Andrew Copp discussed how he and his teammates must respond.

It was a rare loss for the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night, as they were beaten 6-3 by the San Jose Sharks at Little Caesars Arena.

It brought an end to their season-high 7-game winning streak, which was the longest since January of 2012; they had been attempting to win 8-straight games, which would have been the longest winning streak since their Stanley Cup-winning year of 2008.

Forward Andrew Copp, who has been playing on the 2nd line with Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat, discussed the Red Wings' mindset during last night's loss but looked ahead.

Coming off a 7-game winning streak but at the same time, our last 4-5 periods haven't really been that good. But I think there's a confidence in here - I mean, you felt it on the bench last night. Even going into the 3rd, everyone was confident we were going to win the game.

Even the times when we got within 1, it really felt like, the4 confidence level of the group was, 'We're going to win this game.' Obviously it didn't turn out that way, but I think that's an important feeling to have within the group.

The Red Wings are preparing for a 4-game road trip that will take them through divisional foes like the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers, along with games against the Dallas Stars and Philadelphia Flyers, something Copp sees as a measuring stick.

This is a huge test, 4 good teams, teams we haven't really faced this year and teams ahead of us in the standings. This will be a really good measuring stick for us.

But even after the loss, Copp insists that the "sky isn't falling".

We have a lot better and we've shown we had a lot better. The sky isn't falling, that's for sure. We gotta find a way to respond on this trip.
