Former Red Wings captain and Hall of Fame defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom has revealed his choice for the best goaltender that he was teammates with during his legendary career.

Former Detroit Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom earned the distinction of being arguably the greatest defenseman to ever suit up in the history of the National Hockey League.

And it's hard to argue with his accomplishments, considering he won the Norris Trophy as the NHL's top blue liner seven times along with being voted to the NHL All-Star Game 12 times.

Oh, and who could forget his role in four Stanley Cup wins along with being named the winner of the 2002 Conn Smythe Trophy?

As far as who he believes is the top goaltender that he played with during his career, Lidstrom pointed to his teammate who backstopped them to the Stanley Cup in 2002.

The Red Wings traded for Dominik Hasek in 2001, and he had three overall stints with the club that culminated in the Stanley Cup in 2002 as the starter and again in 2008 as a backup.

But according to Lidstrom, Hasek holds the title of best goalie he's ever played with.

Yes. Dom is the best goalie I've ever been on a team with. I have to say, he had an incredible competitive spirit. And he had a unique style.

All he cared about was stopping the puck. He subordinated everything to that.

Really great competitiveness, terribly challenging. It goes back to how competitive he was. He didn't want to let go of the puck and he hated it when he gave up a goal. He was always furious when he let go of a goal.
