Several Detroit Red Wings players are leading the NHL in scoring since the coaching change was made in late December from Derek Lalonde to Todd McLellan.

The Detroit Red Wings are surging right now, having won 7-straight games for the 1st time since January of 2012.

Not only have they vaulted themselves back to within striking distance of a postseason spot, but they've also completely erased the bad feelings and aura of near hopelessness under former coach Derek Lalonde.

Under new coach Todd McLellan, who was hired on December 26 when Lalonde was let go, the Red Wings are playing a far more intense and exciting brand of hockey, and the results are showing not only in the standings but in the player stats.

Since Detroit's victory on December 29 against the Washington Capitals, Patrick Kane leads the NHL in scoring with 13 points; additionally, Lucas Raymond is second with 12 points, and Alex DeBrincat is tied for 3rd with 11 points.

Oh, and captain Dylan Larkin is tied for 4th with 10 points.
