Red Wings prospect Trey Augustine up for pair of major awards

Future Detroit Red Wings goaltender Trey Augustine won his 2nd gold medal in the World Juniors earlier this year, and is now up for a major award playing with the Michigan State Spartans!
Things are looking exciting for the Detroit Red Wings thanks to their Top-5 ranked prospect pool, and goaltenders Sebastian Cossa and Trey Augustine are leading the way in the crease.
Augustine, who was the 41st overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, is one of the top young goaltenders in the NCAA and plays for the Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing, approximately 89 miles from downtown Detroit.
With a record of 15-5-3, a 2.07 GAA, and .926 SV%, Augustine has been named a semi-finalist for the Mike Richter Award as well as the AAU Sullivan Award.
Sophomore netminder Trey Augustine has been announced as a semifinalist for two national awards - the Mike Richter Award as the top goaltender in college hockey, and also for the AAU Sullivan Award, which is given to the top amateur athlete in the United States.
Augustine also recently helped the United States repeat as gold medal winners in the 2025 World Junior Championships earlier this year.
He also now has the most wins of any goaltender in World Junior Championship competition.
The Red Wings are excited about the potential of both Augustine and Sebastian Cossa
Thanks to GM Steve Yzerman's selections in the NHL Entry Draft, the Red Wings have a pair of the most highly-regarded prospect goaltenders in their system of any club.
Cossa currently plays for the Detroit Red Wings, and also picked up his 1st NHL win earlier this year in a December shootout victory over the divisional foe Buffalo Sabres in relief of Ville Husso:
