Should Red Wings fans be concerned about this prospect?
Dmitri Buchelnikov could be one of the best offensive prospects in recent Red Wings history.
Buchelnikov was traded from SKA St. Petersburg to Vityaz Moscow Region today and has made some Detroit Red Wings fans nervous. SKA is a notorious hockey club in the KHL that have a history of dominating opponents and winning championships. With that being said, the trade has sparked some conversation as hockey enthusiasts are now wondering why SKA decided to trade Buchelnikov to Moscow? Historically, SKA arent the type of of club who trade top players, therefore the concern that Buchelnikov's performance could be in decline.
"This move from Dmitri Buchelnikov is making waves throughout the Detroit Red Wings fandom with some people claiming it's a cause for concern, but there is no need to worry. He brings excitement and fun that few players have in the Detroit Red Wings system. Possibly a boom or bust-type of prospect, Buchelnikov offers a contrast to the relatively lower ceiling and higher floor players the Detroit Red Wings have tended to draft."
THIS 2022 second round draft pick player still has two years left to prove his worth in the KHL. Hockey fans need to take a step back and let the natural progression of development take its course. Buchelnikov is an electrifying player with plenty of offensive upside. Sources are speculating that a change of scenery will be beneficial for the young forward to get his game going again.
