The Detroit Red Wings have issued a massive update concerning Dylan Larkin's status following his off-season surgery.

It appears the Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin suffered a regular season injury that required immediate surgical intervention. Although the news of his surgery came as a shock to many Red Wings enthusiasts across the NHL, there seems to be a glimmer of hope regarding the status of his condition.

During a pre-draft media availability, general manager Steve Yzerman disclosed that Larkin had undergone off-season surgery, but the exact nature of the injury was not disclosed for privacy reasons. Although the update provided by Yzerman came as unsettling, it appears that Larkin will be good to go for fall training camp and his rehabilitation is going very smoothly. His injury was listed as upper body, although no one truly knows when or how the Red Wings captain got hurt.

2023-24 was a battle for the Waterford, Michigan native. In December, Larkin was placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury, missing five games, after a scary fall in a game against the Ottawa Senators. Then, in March, he missed three weeks due to a lower-body injury. In total, the veteran center missed 14 games, but was still one of the Red Wings' top scorers. In 68 games, Larkin led the team with 33 goals, finishing second on the team behind Lucas Raymond with 69 points.

Red Wings fans can rest assured that their leading scorer will be good to go for the season opener. Hopefully the off-season medical intervention will provide Larkin the longevity he requires to stay in the lineup long term.
