Detroit Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan singled out the play of rookie forward Marco Kasper after the 5-2 win over the divisional foe Florida Panthers last night.

The red-hot power play of the Detroit Red Wings powered them to victory over the divisional foe Florida Panthers, as they went 3-for-4 with the man advantage as part of their 5-2 win.

Dylan Larkin, Patrick Kane and Jonatan Berggren all scored for Detroit on the power play, while Marco Kasper scored and added an assist.

Kasper now has multiple points in 3 of his last 4 games, and his performance was singled out by coach Todd Mclellan following the win over Florida.

I saw him along the wood a lot tonight. Making really good heavy, hard plays. That's a tough team to play against. They're always pinching. Then the offense is showing up when we need it, so he's doing a real good job.

It was also Kasper's goal in the 2nd period that resulted in the Panthers pulling Sergei Bobrovsky from the net in favor of Spencer Knight.

McLellan recently moved Kasper to the top line alongside Lucas Raymond and Larkin, and he's been making the most of his opportunity. Kasper was even on the ice during last week's game against the Chicago Blackhawks, helping protect Detroit's 1-goal lead and collecting an empty net goal.

He now has 13 points (5G, 8A) in 39 games since being re-called from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
