With both the American and Canadian national anthems being booed in recent games, one top NHL analyst is suggesting that big changes could be considered.
During his latest "32 Thoughts" podcast, top hockey analyst Elliotte Friedman floated the possibility of the NHL scrapping the pre-game tradition of the anthems being played altogether.
I'm wondering if, at some point, someone is going to start questioning whether we should even play the anthem before games. And if they take it a step further, especially in the U.S., I wonder if anyone will suggest stopping the practice of playing the visiting team's anthem altogether.
Can you imagine what it's going to be like in Montreal when Team USA plays there twice? They face Finland on Thursday and then Canada on Saturday. It's going to be intense.
Would you be in favor of the NHL scrapping pre-game anthems until things settle down further?
Both countries seem to have made progress on the tariffs standoff
After the threat of a 25% tariff on certain Canadian products by US President Donald Trump, both he and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau have since worked out an agreement that officially pauses said tariffs.
We will list cartels as terrorists, ensure 24/7 eyes on the border, launch a Canada-U.S. Joint Strike Force to combat organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering. I have also signed a new intelligence directive on organized crime and fentanyl and we will be backing it with $200 million."
Proposed tariffs will be paused for at least 30 days while we work together.
