Vladimir Tarasenko, who split last season between the Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers, recorded 55 points (23 goals, 32 assists) in 76 regular-season games. In the postseason, he earned nine points (five goals, four assists) in 24 games, helping Florida win its first-ever Stanley Cup.
So, when considering his free-agency options, Tarasenko said he contacted Kane to learn more about Detroit.
Originally drafted 16th overall by St. Louis in 2010, Tarasenko has amassed 629 points (293 goals, 336 assists) in 751 games with the Blues, Rangers, Senators, and Panthers.
Tarasenko, a natural right wing, is comfortable shifting to the left side or filling any role required. He acknowledged his defensive growth over his 12-year NHL career.
