Sources have speculated that Yzerman will need to add a key defensive UFA this off- season, and it may appear that they have found that answer in forward Matt Roy. It is no secret that the Red Wings back end struggled mighty, especially towards the end of the season. With current star defenders on the come up like Moritz Seider and Simon Edvinsson, an addition like Matt Roy would be a massive help on the blue line.
Matt Roy has been an absolute stud for the LA Kings, and would be a great fit in the pairing with Edvinsson and would provide much needed veteran guidance.
