Former Detroit player Colin Campbell and Nashville Predators general manager David Poile were inducted in the builder category.
For a franchise with a rich history like Detroit's, Datsyuk is unlikely to be the last Red Wing in the Hall. Henrik Zetterberg, the 2008 Conn Smythe winner and illustrious Triple Gold Club member, stands out as the Red Wings most accomplished player not already in the Hall of Fame. Given his international and NHL achievements, his induction seems imminent.
Chris Osgood is another candidate. Osgood was one of the NHL's best goaltenders in the 1990s, consistently winning games even without a Vezina Trophy. He won three Stanley Cups and two William M. Jennings Trophies. Notably, he is one of just 13 goalies to reach the 400-win threshold. Among those 13, Osgood and Curtis Joseph are the only retired players not in the Hall of fame.
Roenick's recent induction, based on statistical merit, suggests the committee may value milestones more. If this trend continues, Chris Osgood could be the next Red Wing inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
