Utah Hockey Club played their first game in franchise history on Sunday night, facing the St. Louis Blues in Des Moines, Iowa.

Despite it being only preseason, the game was a significant moment for the team as they began their new chapter in the NHL, having inherited the Arizona Coyotes' roster and operations staff.

However, in the first period, Utah was in an unfortunate situation. Already trailing 1-0, they pulled their goalie due to a delayed penalty. During a routine play, forward Milos Kelemen passed the puck back to the point, but it skipped over the defenseman's stick and rolled into their empty net, giving St. Louis a 2-0 lead in what may be remembered as a major misplay this season.

Expectations are high for Utah despite the tough start. The team made notable offseason moves, including bringing in defensemen Mikhail Sergachev, John Marino, and Ian Cole. With young talents like Logan Cooley, Clayton Keller, and Dylan Guenther leading the way, Utah aims to compete for a Stanley Cup Playoff spot in their inaugural season.
