Hockey world mourns the sudden passing of a legendary NHL announcer on Monday

The hockey world is devastated to learn the passing of a legendary voice, Al Trautwig, at the age of 68.
A former broadcaster of the New York Rangers and Nicks [NBA] his voice was heard and recognized by hundreds of thousands tuning in each season.
Just two days before his birthday, Trautwig passed away, he was about to turn 69 on Wednesday, February 26.
"I'm sad to share the news that we lost a legendary voice in sports. But we lost a lot more than that," Hahn said. "He was not only a friend, but a mentor and a teacher. He was, personally, one of my biggest resources of support when I moved into this career. Rest in peace, Al Trautwig."
Trautwig has been apart of MSG Network doing post and pre-game shows for the New York Knicks, Yankees and Rangers.
"This is heartbreaking. A staple of MSG Network and one of the main figures in every Rangers/Knicks fans lives for so long. Growing up in the late 90s/early 00s when I thought of MSGN I thought of Al Trautwig. RIP."
In 2019, he took an extended break.

In 2024, Trautwig was reportedly suffering from cancer
