Gibson's performance in the 2023-24 season was not up to his usual standards, and the Ducks are considering moving on from him, especially with the emergence of 24-year-old Lukáš Dostál. Gibson's 2023-24 season was the worst of his career; he had 44 starts and two relief appearances without being significantly injured, posting a .888 SV%, per Hockey Reference.
Gibson's future in Detroit is uncertain, as the Red Wings are also evaluating their goaltending options for the upcoming season.
