For the 2nd time this year, former Red Wings forward Daniel Sprong is getting ditched by his club, and the alleged real reasoning has been released.

Former Detroit Red Wings forward Daniel Sprong is getting ditched for the 2nd time this year, having been placed on waivers by the Seattle Kraken and subsequently demoted to the American Hockey League after none of the other 31 NHL teams picked him up.

He had signed a 1-year contract over the summer with the Vancouver Canucks, but was traded away to the Kraken (for whom he played in 2022-23) after scoring a single goal in 9 games with the Canucks.

However, is Sprong a locker room issue with his teammates?

Rumour has it he's not the best guy in the room. Whether that concept regarding chemistry is true remains to be seen for a Canucks dressing room that will do its best to acclimate the 27-year-old native of the Netherlands.

Sprong ran into legal troubles before his 1st year with Detroit

Ahead of last season and shortly after signing a 1-year deal with the Red Wings, Sprong was accused of a****** on former INDYCAR driver Zach Claman DeMelo during the Detroit Grand Prix weekend.

DeMelo wrote the following update on his Instagram story shortly after the alleged incident took place:

After when I had believed the situation was over, Daniel came back and sucker punched me in the face while I was defenseless... the dental work needed was brutal and I'm still not finished. I also sustained a concussion that I've been dealing with over the past few weeks.

I just wanted to bring attention to this situation as no one has the right to act this way, especially an athlete of Daniel's caliber. We must hold [ourselves] to the highest of standards and for him to do this is beyond disappointing.
