Does Filip Zadina regret walking away from the Red Wings?
Red Wings fans across the NHL are breathing a huge sigh of relief as former player Filip Zadina struggles to produce with the San Jose Sharks.
Last year, Zadina was offered a guaranteed two-year contact with the Red Wings worth over 4.5 million dollars, but ultimately walked away to prove his value elsewhere. Desperate to prove himself, he took a one-year deal instead playing for the San Jose Sharks, a huge gamble that has not paid off for the former Red Wing.
Last year in a nightmare season for Zadina, the former 6th over all pick only managed to notch 23 points in 72-regular-season games and was a shocking -44 rating on the ice.
Filip Zadina took a huge risk by opting out of his contract offer with the Red Wings in order to seek out a bigger pay day elsewhere, but things are looking very grim right now for the young forward. Should he have instead taken the safe money to play for a contending team in Detroit? Maybe next season will be a different story for Zadina as he continues to try to bolster his value.
