Goaltender Cam Talbot returned to the crease and made 41 stops as part of the Red Wings' 5-2 win over the divisional foe Florida Panthers to kick off the road trip.

It was an easy decision for the Detroit Red Wings and coach Todd McLellan go to back to goaltender Cam Talbot for last night's game against the Florida Panthers.

And it turned out to be the correct one, as he made 41 saves as part of a 5-2 win at Amerant Bank Arena; it was the Red Wings' 8th win in their last 10 games under new coach Todd McLellan, who replaced Derek Lalonde behind the Red Wings bench on December 26.

Talbotr gave the credit to his teammates and pointed toward the response the overall team had after Tuesday's disappointing loss.

Tough building to play in, a veteran team over there, and we needed a response after last game. We didn't play up to our standard that we have been setting. We came out and established our game plan.

"But we needed a response. Give our guys a lot of credit. They came out and played a heck of a hockey game.

Talbot returned to the net after Ville Husso struggled against the Sharks; Husso remains with the club after being re-called from the Grand Rapids Griffins thanks to the injury to Alex Lyon.

The good news for the Red Wings is that Lyon has accompanied them on this current road trip, though it isn't clear when he could return to game action.

The Red Wings continue their road trip by facing a divisional foe for the 2nd straight game; they'll play the Tampa Bay Lightning tomorrow night.

Should the Red Wings start Cam Talbot until Alex Lyon is healthy enough to return?
