Here's why Vladimir Tarasenko is a good fit for Detroit
Former St. Louis Blues star Vladimir Tarasenko signed with the Detroit Red Wings after being the most notable free agent left unsigned on July 1st.
Following his tenure with the Florida Panthers, his time there had ended unless he accepted a league-minimum contract. Despite rumors of interest from the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers, Tarasenko chose Detroit, signing a two-year, $9.5 million contract.
In the 2023-24 season, he scored 23 goals with Ottawa and Florida, which would have ranked fourth for the Red Wings in goals and total points. At 32, the four-time All-Star and two-time Stanley Cup winner brings veteran leadership and offensive prowess to Detroit. With David Perron's departure, Tarasenko is expected to fill the void and contribute significantly.
