Detroit Red Wings goaltender Alex Lyon departed tonight's game against the Senators with an injury, and wasn't able to return after being replaced by Cam Talbot.

TheDetroit Red Wings suffered not a single injury but a pair of injuries as part of their 3-2 overtime win tonight over the divisional foe Ottawa Senators at Little Caesars Arena.

And while one player came back, the other wasn't able to.

The Red Wings lost goaltender Alex Lyon after the 1st period to an upper-body injury; it wasn't clear exactly what happened to him, especially after he stopped all 10 shots he faced from Ottawa.

He was replaced the rest of the way by Cam Talbot, who would eventually earn the win.

Head coach Todd McLellan said that he wasn't able to directly answer when asked about Lyon's status, but that there would be a better idea after further testing was done.

I can't - he felt something near the end of the 1st period and came in between periods and met with the training staff; they felt it would be best if he didn't continue on.

He's going to get some tests and they were already working on them after the game. We'll have more tomorrow, and when we all meet you on Thursday we'll probably have a better answer for that question.

If Lyon is forced to miss more time, the Red Wings will have to re-call one of Sebastian Cossa or Jack Campbell from the American Hockey League.

The Red Wings also lost defenseman Simon Edvinsson in the 2nd period after a rough collision with a Senators player at the Detroit blue line. While Edvinsson returned to the dressing room, he came back for the 3rd period.
