Is Mickey Redmond the best commentator in sports?
Mickey Redmond and Ken Daniels receive high distinction as they were recently awarded #1 in the Athletics top broadcast ratings.
The Bally sports duo have been fan favourites in the NHL for quite some time now, but recently they tandem have emerged as the best commentators in the NHL by racking up the top ratings across all hockey broadcasts.
Mickey Redmond has been a commentator for the Red Wings since 1986 and has never missed a beat since being on boarded by the Red wings. His ability to captivate the heart of the game in his thrilling broadcasts has asserted him legendary status in hockey town.
On Thursday, The Athletic released its annual NHL broadcast survey rankings, in which it polls its national audience of readers to vote for their favorite play-by-play and color commentator pairings of each local NHL broadcast. Daniels and Redmond, the TV voices of the Red Wings since 1997 (when Daniels arrived in Hockeytown), were voted as the best broadcaster pairing in the NHL in the survey that had "roughly 7,000" responses.
Congratulations to these two veteran commentators. Let's hope they can continue to call great hockey games for years to come.
