Red Wings among teams interested in landing Martin Necas
Rumours are circulating about Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman's interest in acquiring Martin Necas from the Carolina Hurricanes.
Frank Seravalli from Daily Faceoff has the latest gossip on the Martin Necas situation. The renowned insider reports that the Detroit Red Wings are among the top teams looking to scoop up Martin Necas from the Carolina Hurricanes and are watching him closely.
"This evening, Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff provided an update on the status of Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas, whom it is widely believed will be traded this offseason. Specifically, Seravalli wrote that Detroit is one of seven teams to have "closely followed" a possible tradethe others being Columbus, Calgary, Vancouver, Boston, Chicago, and Nashville."
This could be a massive acquisition for the Red Wings who fell one game short of the last wild card spot in the eastern conference. The Wings are lacking firepower on offense, and Martin Necas could be the answer the Red Wings have been seeking.
Last season for the Carolina Hurricanes, Necas notched 24 goals and 29 assists for a combined 53 points in just 77 regular season games and was a -9 rating on the ice.
