The Detroit Red Wings are placing forward Patrick Kane on Injured Reserve retroactive to the injury that he suffered earlier in the month against the Stars.
He was hurt last week in Detroit's loss against the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center; he briefly left the game before returning and finishing the contest.
And minutes ago, the Red Wings announced that Kane has been placed on Injured Reserve retroactive to January 21.
The positive aspect about being placed on Injured Reserve retroactive to January 21 is that tonight's game against the Kings will be the 4th straight game that he's missed; players who land on Injured Reserve are required to miss at least 4 games.
This means there's a chance that he could return for the beginning of Detroit's critical road swing that begins on Thursday against the Edmonton Oilers.
