Detroit Red Wings coach Todd McLellan has helped his new club win 5-straight games, and recently revealed why he's "honoured" since taking over behind the bench.

Since taking over behind the bench for the Detroit Red Wings , Todd McLellan has helped his new club rattle off 5-straight victories, putting them right back within striking distance of a Wild Card postseason spot.

While it was a difficult position to have to come into, McLellan has made the most of it so far and has the Red Wings playing a far more defensively sound and intense brand of hockey, and the on-ice results speak for themselves.

And while McLellan has coached several Hall of Fame players in his career including Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Anze Kopitar, he explained that it was an "honour" for him to coach another future Hall of Fame forward Patrick Kane and noted that he's glad he doesn't have to try and have his team defend against him.

I'm honoured to be his coach. You watch him all those years and try to solve him all those years - I'm glad I don't have to do that.

Kane scored the overtime goal to win the game for the Red Wings on Tuesday night against the Senators:

And while McLellan has coached against Patrick Kane many times, the poise he demonstrates with the puck along with his stick handling abilities continue to impress him.

His poise with the puck is uncanny. How he can slow things down, speed it up.

Probably an underrated shot. I never game him enough credit for a shot like that that he scored. Quietly leads - goes about his business and everybody kind of follows. So it's nice having him around, for sure.

McClellan, Kane and the Red Wings are up against Kane's former club, the Chicago Blackhawks, tomorrow night at Little Caesars Arena (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).

If Detroit secures a win, it would mark their longest winning streak since February of last year.
