The Red Wings stunned fans when they traded popular defenseman Jake Walman to the San Jose Sharks, but he may have to wait to return to Little Caesars Arena.
Fans of the
Detroit Red Wings are justified in their continued state of being puzzled as to why popular defenseman Jake Walman was unceremoniously traded by general manager Steve Yzerman to the San Jose Sharks during the offseason.
Walman, who had just signed a 3-year contract the year prior, was often paired with
Moritz Seider on Detroit's top defensive unit and also endeared himself to fans with his iconic "Griddy" celebration after goals.
But Yzerman traded Walman to the Sharks while also attaching a 2nd round draft pick to him, a move that just about everyone continues to question to this day.
Making matters even more complicated is the fact that Walman leads all Sharks defensemen in scoring.
However, Walman has missed 8-straight games with a lower-body injury, and didn't travel with the Sharks to Salt Lake City for their game against the Utah Hockey Club tomorrow night.
The Sharks will head to Detroit to play the Red Wings on Tuesday, January 14. Right now, Walman's status for that game hasn't been decided by the Sharks.
The trade of Walman looks all the more bad for the Red Wings
